A free QR code label maker built specifically for the metal detecting community. Detectorists needed a simple way to label and identify their finds, with no app to install, no account to create and no risk of the data disappearing in five years when a service shuts down.

All find data is encoded client-side using base64url URL fragments. That single technical decision solved a critical iOS QR code scanning restriction that database-driven approaches could not overcome. There is no server-side storage of find data. No login. No cost to the user.

The decode endpoint lives at qr-decode.org as a neutral, permanent URL. Even if relictag.com one day went offline, every label ever printed would still scan and resolve. A companion Collectors Edition extends the system for coin and artefact collectors beyond the detecting community.

Built and promoted into the detecting community from a standing start, with a what3words location field included so finds can be tied to a precise spot without exposing exact coordinates.
